Strengthening Working Families Initiative (SWFI)
an extension of the Hand Up Project
SWFI is an opportunity of a lifetime. You will receive first class job training and mentoring in order to keep, maintain, and grow in a job. You will learn how to manage your money so you can get out of debt and build/fix your credit. You will have access to employers, HR Directors, and hiring managers who are actively looking to fill employment gaps in their organizations. You will be connected with local colleges and technical training centers to receive the education you will need to advance in your career choice. All through this process you will have a support network that will encourage and guide you along your path to self sufficiency. CAPCIL, in partnership with the County Boards and City Governments in our service area as well as private donors, are making this opportunity available to you. If you are unemployed or under-employed, the Jobs for Life class can assist you in building skills needed for employment to provide for you and your family. JFL is not just about finding a job, it is identifying your purpose and skills to become employable for life!
As a graduate, you will:

Complete a vocational plan
Be eligible for scholarships to learn a new trade or degree
Meet with local employers
Build a supportive network
Identify roadblocks that may be keeping you from retaining or getting a job.
We all need a plan for our money. Financial Peace University (FPU) is that plan! Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small group activities, FPU gives you practical steps to get from where you are to where you've dreamed you could be. This plan will show you how to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and save wisely, and much more!
As a graduate, you will:
Learn on how to take control of your money
Save an emergency fund (up to $1000)
Learn how to spend and save wisely
Plan for expenses (Christmas, birthdays, utilities, car insurance, etc.)
Plan for the future
It is the mission of CAPCIL, in partnership with communities in our service area, to empower persons with low income and the aged by creating and implementing poverty-fighting initiatives for those in crisis and those that endeavor a life of lasting independence.
